PHOTOS. Downtown/Witches' Market. 6/09/06

Downtown, with the edge of the valley in the distance.

I can't remember if those people were pointing at me, but I put my camera away immediately.

Yea, people look at you funny when you take pictures.

On the way to the Mercado de las Brujas (the Witches' Market), where folks sell expensive wool goods, instruments, and ritual items. Mainly for the touristas.

Dried llama fetuses, little candies called misterios (right) and various herbs (above) are used as offerings to ensure blessings or good luck.

Yes, El Copa Mundiale (World Cup) is fairly big around here, but maybe not in such a crazy way as in Brazil or Argentina or Europe, since Bolivia´s not in it. People do watch it and listen to it on the radio and all that, and there are lots of advertising campaigns related to it...but, mostly, the people I see watching it at cafe´s and such are foreigners - Germans (like our ex-pat host), maybe some French.
And, no, breakfast beer isn´t anything special, just beer in the morning. And fairly good beer they´ve got here too.
