PHOTOS. To La Paz...and Back! 07/08 to 07/10/06

This poor little fellow froze to death in the cold Bolivian night. He remained on the windowsill for the duration of my trip.

Big, cool trucks don't need no mirrors.

Is that a volcano erupting...in Peru? It appeared so to us, or my professor, at least.

Clearest day we'd seen in them there Andes.

La Paz...again.

At the internet shop. Apparently, they really like Star Wars here.

On our way back to the country, we came across none other than a bloqueo, or a blockade, in which communities block major roads like this one (I don't know if you can see the rocks lined up) as a form of political protest.

No cars...

And if they find you sneaking past the bloqueo, sometimes they'll bumrush your car and, um, kill you....

...depends on the community and cause, I guess...

...as we were neither bumrushed nor killed. These people seemed rather friendly.

And it was a gorgeous day, anyhow.

Passed a Death Star, er, power plant, on our way.

...and a small church/shrine where travelers are supposed to leave offerings of coca. We did not.

But wasn't the moon pretty...
