I want to go sit on those mountains.

In our little neighborhood of Sopacachi.

This guy is carrying a garafa, or gasoline tank, from that red truck behind him labelled PELIGROSO (DANGEROUS). Most folks rely on these for cooking and sometimes heating their homes, since there are no pipelines to be heard of.

Lots of power lines here, though. Lots.

Plantanos (bananas) and some mysterious fruit thing.

The indoor market where we stocked up in foodstuffs for the campo.

The market is full of individual vendors (primarily women) with their own sections of stacks upon stacks of goods. They´ve got fruits or vegetables...

dry goods....

...and meat (and it ain´t covered up either).

It´s a much more personalized shopping experience...intimate, even. You have to ask a vendor for the things you want, she puts them aside, you walk around to get what you need from other stations and return to pay, then she´ll probably help you carry the bags to your car. Her neighbor will probably get jealous if you don´t buy anything from her.

When you walk by the vendors they usually call out to you to buy their stuff, kind of agressively but in a nice way. To me they say, ¨mamasita, mamasita...¨

Getting packed up for the campo. We have a washing machine at our place, but everything´s line dried.
