PHOTOS: First Trip to Khonkho. 06/13/06

Trying to pack way too much stuff in (and on) the truck, my prof's beloved Nissan Patrol.

Say hello.

Note, to the left of the pigeons, the bits of broken glass stuck in the cement along the top of the wall. Intended to deter pigeons.

You can't see it very well, but that's a gas station, and the banner reads: "Nationalized"... and something about the Bolivian people.

The Helado (Ice Cream) Man.

In the very busy market area in El Alto.

There was a cute couple on the back of that truck there.

The sheep were cool, but I was a little disappointed I didn't get a shot of any llamas. They were a far rarer sight.

At Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku), another archaeological site. You've probably heard about it if you've taken an archaeology class at Vanderbilt. It's got, you know, platforms and entrance patios and all that fascinating stuff. And a little artisan market on the left for the tourist.

And, a railroad...?

Lake....Titicaca! Can't really see it, huh.

This was a lot bumpier than it looks.
